Hair Masterclass #2 – How to achieve the perfect blow dry

May 27th, 2015

Even if you only air-dry your hair, it’s still important to have in your arsenal, the ability to blow dry your hair into smooth and shiny locks. Here’s our step-by-step guide on how to recreate a salon blow-dry at home.

1. Wash your hair. Read our Hair Masterclass #1 for tips on washing your hair.

2. Towel dry your hair – Don’t rub your hair with a towel as the friction causes frizz and breakage. Instead, wrap the towel around your hair and squeeze excess water.

3, Apply product with heat protection – Redken Duo Shield is a fantastic colour protecting gel with heat protection. Blast hair with hairdryer until 80% dry.

4. Separate your hair into four – six sections. Use clips to help secure sections into place.

5. Start blow drying at the nape of your neck, working from the roots down to the ends, smoothing the hair downwards – never blow dry upwards as this causes the hair to frizz!

6. Work your way to the front and remember to move your blow dryer around so nothing burns. Once you are done briefly apply a stream of cool air.
